The Institut International de Lancy becomes an official KiVa trainer for schools wishing to tackle bullying

21 June 2023

The Institut International de Lancy, the first school in Switzerland to introduce the KiVa programme to tackle bullying in schools, is now providing training to French- and English-speaking schools wishing to implement the programme.

Today, bullying affects all schools. To provide the best possible support for its students, the Institut International de Lancy (IIL) has been actively preventing and reducing bullying through the KiVa programme since 2021. Based on cutting-edge research, this programme was launched in Finland in 2009 and has proved its effectiveness through numerous studies. More than 95% of Finnish schools have now adopted it, and it has been extended to many countries in Europe, Latin America and the United States.

The KiVa anti-bullying programme goes beyond simple conflict resolution and is based on three pillars: prevention, intervention and monitoring. All elementary and secondary students benefit from preventive lessons based on universal values such as tolerance, respect for diversity, inclusion and kindness. This programme extends beyond the classroom, as all staff members are involved.

Acclaimed by students and their parents alike, this major innovation is further proof of the school’s commitment to an education that values interpersonal skills as much as knowledge acquisition.

As an official KiVa trainer for French- and English-speaking schools, IIL now offers training to schools wishing to implement this programme in Switzerland and internationally, and thus provide a positive and caring learning environment for their students.

« We are proud to be able to support schools in implementing such a comprehensive programme which tackles bullying through prevention, intervention and monitoring and helps every child feel safe and protected in their school environment. »

Monique Roiné, General Director, Institut International de Lancy
