The Institut International de Lancy celebrates its multiculturalism

June 5, 2026

With more than 90 nationalities represented within its educational community, the Institut International de Lancy organised a Multicultural Week in early June to celebrate this remarkable cultural diversity.

Each day was dedicated to a different part of the world: Africa on Monday, Asia and Oceania on Tuesday, Europe on Wednesday, the Americas on Thursday, followed by an International Day on Friday.

Throughout the week, students had the opportunity to discover the traditions of many cultures through a variety of workshops and activities. These included traditional dances and songs, readings of stories from around the world, a flag hunt, creative activities inspired by different cultures, and an exploration of legends from every corner of the globe.

The cultural experience also continued during mealtimes. The canteen menus offered pupils a true culinary journey around the world, featuring dishes such as mafé, shakshuka, spring rolls, stir-fried noodles, bacalhau, pork ribs in barbecue sauce, moussaka and nasi goreng.

To conclude this wonderful week, a School Fair was held on Friday after school. Families gathered in a warm and festive atmosphere to enjoy a wide range of culinary specialities. Younger children also took part in activities designed especially for them, including pony rides, bouncy castles, a quiz, fairground games and a basketball tournament.

An exhibition of the children’s work was also organised, giving parents the opportunity to discover all the creations inspired by the different cultures explored throughout the week.
