Summer readings for youngest

19 July 2019

It’s amazing how reading can make you travel, discover and laugh! Here comes our favourite books for the youngest, enjoy!

L’école de Léon – Léon takes his first steps as a schoolboy. The album takes a glimpse into the daily routine of the younger children. From sticker sessions to fights, from naps to songs, it’s all there until it’s ‘time for mummy’.

La brouille – A lot of quarrelling and making up between two small rabbits following the arrival of a fox wanting to eat them.

Parfois je me sens – How to help your children deal with their feelings and emotions? Read with them ‘Parfois je me sens…’ and start up a conversation can be a great solution.

Une soupe 100% sorcière – Kroquela the witch realises that whilst making her soup, she is missing a lot of ingredients … Never mind, with a swish of her broom she flies to her neighbour Mère-Grand to steal a couple of carrots. A small pit stop at the ogre’s to stock up on potatoes and hop, voila! And finally, to the lumberjack’s garden where Kroquela filches a couple of leeks.

Une soupe au caillou – When you’re an old wolf and winter is here, what can you do? The wolf in this story goes from house to house with a stone in his bag to make …stone soup…

Summer is Summer by Phillis Gershator and David Gershator– What is summer? For so many children summer is lemonade and salty air, playing outside and ice cream, fireflies and starry nights, and much, much more. Join four friends as they explore the outdoor world of summer and all its sensory pleasures

Fireflies by Julie Brinkloe– A young boy is proud of having caught a jar full of fireflies, which seems to him like owning a piece of moonlight, but as the light begins to dim he realises he must set the insects free or they will die

Summer Days and Nights by Wong Herbert Yee– On a hot summer day, a little girl finds ways to entertain herself and stay cool. She catches a butterfly, sips lemonade, jumps in a pool, and goes on a picnic. At night, she sees an owl in a tree and a frog in a pond, and hears leaves rustling. Before long, she’s fast asleep, dreaming about more summer days and summer nights.

The Berenstain Bears and Too Much Vacation by Jan and Stan Berenstain – Papa, Mama, Brother, and Sister are heading to the Great Grizzly Mountains for a relaxing vacation. But a messy cabin, noisy animals, a swarm of mosquitos, and a rainstorm just might dampen all of their fun.

Hot Dog by Molly Coxe– Poor Dog. He’s awfully hot! But Mom won’t share her lemonade. Cat won’t share his shady spot on the porch. And Skunk’s making a real stink about sharing his hollow log. What does a hot Dog have to do to get cool?
