SGIS Football Tournament (Cat F)

On Friday 2nd October, IIL hosted the SGIS Category F tournament for boys and girls at the Stade des Fraisiers in Lancy.

The two girls’ teams played 5 matches against each other while the ten boys’ teams were split into two groups.

The overall turnout of supporters was phenomenal, with parents cheering on the teams and helping with the logistics of the event such as running the buvette. IIL wishes to warmly thank all parents for their support and dedication.

The three boys’ teams and one girls’ team representing IIL showed impressive behaviour and brilliant teamwork on the pitch. It is such a pleasure to have so many children eager to play football at such a young age.

IIL 1 finished 9th overall
IIL 2 finished 5th overall

IIL 3 managed to qualify for the final against Geneva English School. It was an extremely tight match and chances to score were few and far between on both ends. GES scored the only goal of the game leaving IIL to finish in second place.

IIL girls only had 1 opposition to play as two girls teams dropped out last minute. IIL played 5 matches against the International School Lausanne girls, competing for first and second place.

The final game was the decider. In yet another close match, ISL took first place with a 1-0 win, with IIL coming in second.
