Book Week at IIL

10 October 2016

In the English Primary Section we celebrate Book Week which incorporates many activities which serve to inspire our young readers. The activities across the week include a traditional book fair, giving children the opportunity to purchase titles from renowned authors.

We are also welcoming a children’s author and illustrator Liz Million, who is coming from the UK to deliver workshops, teaching the children how to be creative with their story telling.

We are running competitions across the week also: we have invited the younger children to create bookmarks and the older children to write a diary entry, to express how Charlie felt when he found the golden ticket, from Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Another event which takes place during our book week is our dress up day. The children, and the teachers, dress as their favourite book characters. This event excites the children and inspires stimulating dscussions around books and authors.

Book Week is a fantastic way for our section to feed our children’s imaginations and thus motivate them in their creative writing. It is also the chance for teachers to share their love of reading with the children and to express to them the art of reading books, which never dies.
