Alan Roura visits IIL 9e students

22 March 2017

On Tuesday 14 March, children in 9e had a great opportunity to meet Alan ROURA. Alan ROURA is a Swiss skipper and the youngest person to take part in the Vendée Globe, coming in 12th in the last race.

The children had prepared for his visit in advance and had been looking forward to meeting him. They had made origami sailing boats, created a patchwork design from 66 small pictures, all representing Alan Roura’s boat and wrote a song to the music of « Santiano ». They also had a long list of questions for him about his experiences.

Dressed in sailor t-shirts, the children formed a long line in honour of his arrival, happily waving their red, orange and white sailing boats, the colours of his boat « la Fabrique »

Once everyone was settled into a classroom, Alan Roura was happy to answer the various questions. It was a memorable moment and a good conclusion to their project.

At around 11 o’clock, Carla, one of the music teachers, guitar in hand, accompanied the children on her guitar while they sang their very own composition to the music of « Santiano ».

This was followed by an autograph session and each child was given a card signed by Alan ROURA.

It was soon time to say goodbye and thank Alan for his visit.

What a fantastic morning!

You can find out more about the visit on the class twitter account.
