Mark your calendars!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the fourth consecutive year, the Institut International de Lancy (IIL) is organising its Café Philo on Wednesday 11 March, from 15:00 to 17:00<\/strong>, in partnership with the Baur Foundation, Museum of Far Eastern Art<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Exceptionally, and due the ongoing work at the museum, the event will be held in the IIL’s spacious media library, in the heart of its new building, which was inaugurated at the beginning of the school year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This edition will focus on language<\/strong> through a series of workshops led by final-year secondary school students, accompanied by their philosophy teacher. The debates will invite the public to reflect on the many facets of language: the eloquence and power of words, the links between language and thought, between language, truth and meaning, but also the way in which language shapes communities and power relations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussions will be punctuated by contributions from young students from the Institute who are studying Chinese, thus establishing links between language, art and poetry. Inspired by the collections of the Museum of Far Eastern Arts, they will present their artistic creations based on the animals of the zodiac, animal symbolism and floral symbolism, in the form of traditional painting and reproductions of objects from Chinese cultural heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friends of the Foundation are warmly invited to take part in this afternoon of reflection and dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
