Still students at the IIL – and already enrolling at University

26 October 2017

Three IIL “Terminale S” pupils from the French secondary section have been accepted to follow the Athéna program at Geneva university.

We are proud to announce that Lou, Clara and Juraj, pupils from the French secondary section have been accepted to follow the Athena program.

Athéna is an advanced studies program in physics and mathematics run by the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Geneva. This program is designed for secondary school students in the last year of their high school curriculum. This course is aimed at pupils who have an aptitude in these subjects and who are interested in discovering more about physics and mathematics at university. Combining this with the opportunity to have an insight into what life as a university student would be like.

During one term the IIL students will follow regular classes in mathematics or physics at Geneva university with an exam at the end. If they succeed they will receive credits that will allow them to go abroad to study a degree that will be accepted anywhere within the European Union.

Our three candidates have passed the admission tests for this program and have already begun classes.

IIL has adapted their timetable to allow them to follow the university course. They have been assigned a tutor, Mr Ansoud, an IIL physics teacher who will be the contact between the school and the university tutor.

Clara and Lou are attending classes with Dr Bonvin on “mathematical methods for physicists” and Juraj is following Dr Alekseev’s classes on “elementary methods in mathematics”.

We wish them every success!
