Competitive Sports

Back
Students of all ages and from both English and French sections from our international school, regularly have the opportunity to participate in competitions and tournaments in the Geneva region or elsewhere in Switzerland.
  • Description
Each year in early December, more than 200 students and teachers from our private school participate in the legendary "Escalade Race”, one of Geneva’s most famous and popular annual events. While this is the most well-known competition to IIL students, many others are scheduled throughout year in our bilingual school.

Students who play a particular sport on a regular basis should register with the Physical Education department at the beginning of the school year. Depending on the event,  it may be necessary to make a selection among the students.

Transport costs to and from these events are covered by our international school. Most competitions are programmed to take place in the morning or afternoon, or on one day to ensure students from french or english cursus miss as few lessons as possible.

ADISR competitions in the lake Geneva region

The Association of Directors of Schools in Swiss Romande (ADISR), brings together teams from private schools located throughout the lake Geneva region (Geneva, Vaud, Chablais). Under the aegis of ADISR, our private school organises tournaments in netball and table tennis, and horseback riding events.

SGIS competitions throughout Switzerland

Competitions organized by the Swiss Group of International Schools or SGIS, bring together students from all over Switzerland. The competitions are usually held on a single day but can sometimes take place over an entire weekend. On behalf of SGIS, our international school organizes football, table tennis and golf competitions.

ADISR and SGIS organize a wide range of competitions in such disciplines as football (soccer), basketball, volleyball, rugby, indoor hockey, badminton, skiing, snowboarding, table tennis, tennis, horseback riding, golf, beach-volley, netball, criquet, indoor football, swimming or athletics.

Meeting with the international schools of Geneva

At the end of the school year, students of the international school challenge students of Florimont and Notre-Dame du Lac during the "Fête des sports".

Finally, students at our international school take part in an annual ski events organized by the Geneva Department of Public Instruction (DIP) for Geneva pupils, the “Prim’ski”.
