Jean Liermier talks to IIL students about Marivaux.

18 November 2015

Jean Liermier, Director of the Theatre-Workshop of the Théâtre de Carouge, visited IIL on Friday 16th October to talk to our Seconde and Première students about Marivaux’s play «Les Acteurs de Bonne Foi». The students had seen the play, which was directed by Geneviève Pasquier and Nicolas Rossier, the week before at the Théâtre de Carouge.

Students and teachers alike were completely spellbound as they listened to Jean Liermier speak with passion and humour about his love for the theatre.

His experience and conviction were clearly demonstrated as he described the entire process from A to Z when creating and producing a play on the stage. Of course the discussion was also about the author Marivaux, as seen through the eyes of this talented and complex dramatist, Liermier, and which is quite different from the stereotypical Marivaux.

Love and its collateral damages were what had encouraged Liermier earlier on in his career to produce « La Double Inconstance » and « Le Jeu de l’amour et du hasard »and now this season, to take on this present production by Geneviève Pasquier and Nicolas Rossier.
