Ecumenical programme

Back
In English Primary section (age 3 to 11), religion is proposed as an option during study periods. An ecumenical programme is proposed in Year 1. In the following years (Year 2 to Year 6), the programme is based on Catholic Catechism.
  • Description

Teaching

In our international school, catechism for Year 1 is an all encompassing Christian group. This is usually the first time that the children learn to pray and share time and activities together thanking God for the gifts that surround them.

In Year 2, the programme turns to Catholic Catechism which encourages learning and understanding of the Catholic faith, continuing faith formation and preparation to receive the sacraments. The focus becomes more formal and the Catholic prayers and blessings are introduced to the children. Together the children learn the Lord's Prayer and the Hail Mary as well as other graces. The group sessions always end in prayer and a final song.

Year 3 and Year 4 focus on the preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion, which take place during Year 4.

Years 5 and 6 form discussion groups to question and debate topical issues and continue their faith journey.
