Spirit of Saint Joseph

Back
The Institut International de Lancy belongs to the international network of schools of the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Lyon.
  • Description
At a Saint Joseph school, everyone is accepted within his or her own reality and and is accompanied along the road to personal fulfilment. This approach implies the adoption of specific pedagogical attitudes. These are meaningful and beneficial only when the spirit of Saint Joseph behind their inspiration remains present in the minds of all members of the school community. The community as a whole is responsible for the spirit of well-being within the school and through its conduct contributes to the pursuit of education.

Values of our Catholic school

A number of concrete attitudes express the spirit of Saint Joseph in  relationships with others.

  • listening

  • support

  • choice in education

  • availability

  • spirit to serve

  • humility

  • rigour

  • reference to meaning

  • responsibility

Everyday actions enhance the sense of community :

  • save time to get to know others

  • build trust

  • identify and nurture the capacities of each student

  • assess work and progress, and not only performance and value of the student

  • be worthy of trust in the eyes of other members of the school community, show respect through dress, speech

  • get involved in school projects : educational, pastoral, pedagogical, or projects involving the school as a whole

  • foster a friendly atmosphere : smile, greet, encourage exchange

  • be polite, respectful, trustworthy within the group
