The origins of the Institut International de Lancy date back to 1903, when the sisters of the Congregation of Saint-Joseph de Bourg founded the school having been forced to close down the one they were running at the time in Ferney-Voltaire.

Parents' association

The Parents’ Association of the Institut International de Lancy (APEIIL) is open to all IIL families and and is run by a committee of volunteer parents.

Governing Board

Currently registered in Geneva as the Association Institut de Lancy, when it was founded by the Sisters of Saint-Joseph de Bourg IIL originally went under the name of Association Collège Marie-Thérèse.

Ecumenical programme

In the English Primary section (age 3 to 11), religion is proposed as an option during study periods. An ecumenical programme is proposed in Year 1. In the following years (Year 2 to Year 6), the programme is based on Catholic Catechism.

Walls for education
