Open to the Arts

Back
Art teaching takes different forms depending on the section and the age of the students and section. High-end Art and Technology rooms and equipment provide an environment that fosters creativity.
  • Description
Art teaching at our international school benefits from the use of specialised classrooms and studios where a wide variety of arts can be explored. In classes where Art is taught as an exam subject, a number of possibilities are open to students to create and add to their portfolios.

The walls of the school are regularly adorned with artwork produced by students of all ages. Skills acquired in the Art class can be put to good use in other classroom projects too, such as displays and oral presentations.

Art teaching benefits from a wide range of multimedia equipment. IIL is an Apple Distinguished School and thanks to the 1 to 1 iPad programme, all students have resulted to have an HD video camera at their fingertips that can be used to capture a host of different images. They can then use these to enhance their school or home work. Fine-tune editing tools can be used directly on the iPad thus encouraging students to experiment with a wide variety of image processing techniques.

IIL houses a fully-equipped recording studio where students are able to create special effects and have the use of cutting tables and sound equipment. In our private school, our students regularly produce video clips and short films which are then broadcast on TV screens around the school and published on IIL intranet. This relatively new facility has allowed the school to extend its Arts programme to include cinematography, offered at exam level for older students.

To complete the Arts curriculum, students are taught Drama and Music as part of their regular timetable. Lessons vary depending on age and section.
